In 1928, Congregation Sons of Israel (CSOI) was established and held its first High Holiday services at Woodmere Fire House. Over the years, the community grew and the first synagogue was constructed in 1933, with a Youth Center following in 1935, which was made possible by the dedication of its members. The synagogue always put emphasis on Jewish education, which prompted the establishment of a Hebrew School to cater to the growing families of Long Island.
We are a Traditional Conservative Synagogue located in Woodmere, and we hold a special place in the Five Towns community. Our goal from the very beginning has been to cater to the diverse spiritual and social needs of all members of our community. We offer a warm welcome to families, couples, singles, and individuals of all ages, and we strongly believe in the importance of traditional Jewish values in today’s world. Our synagogue provides a perfect blend of secular and religious activities, which greatly enhances the lives of our members through religious, educational, and social interactions.
